Fast for Those In Need

Hello everyone! Today I’d like to discuss those who are in need. Some are in need of Salvation, others are experiencing oppression, hungry, need clothing and even housing. The followers of Jesus Christ are charged with praying and fasting for those in need. (KJV) “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? 8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward. 9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” Isaiah 58: 6-11

I have known followers of Jesus Christ who fast for their own personal needs, bigger houses, jobs with a higher salary, a luxury car and so on. These are not the things that followers of Jesus Christ fast for. If we do as the Lord has directed us, God will continually bless and meet our needs according to His will, not ours.

Followers of Jesus Christ do not have the same standards as the world. We shouldn’t be focused on material things or worldly gain. (KJV) “33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 Jesus told us that he was going to prepare a place for us, that there are many mansions in his Fathers house! This is our promise! Why seek for material gain and riches on earth? This life is temporal but when we are changed it will be eternal. (KJV) 1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2

Our charge as followers of Jesus Christ is to do the will of God. The will of God is that none be lost but all come to eternal life. (KJV) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 The followers of Jesus Christ share the gospel of Jesus Christ, that souls might be saved! My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus let’s stay focused. There is nothing wrong with desiring nice things but it shouldn’t be our focus. It isn’t a sin to have a high education and degrees but is the will of God and His direction for your life? We seek after God’s will not our own to be done! Read the Gospels and renew your relationship with our Savior and the Head of the Church of the Living God. He Loves You. He died for you!
