Vashti, pronounced VASH-tye. Vashti means the beloved or desired one. Vashti’s occupation was Queen. She was Queen to king Ahasuerus. Daughter of king Belshazzar of Babylon. Great granddaughter of king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Mother of king Artaxerxes.
Since her father was king Belshazzar of Babylon, her husband was king Ahasuerus aka Xerxes I, and her son was king Artaxerxes I, this means that technically Vashti never stopped residing in a royal household.
Vashti character traits were Fierce, Dignified, and Beautiful.
Although she lost the right to be king Ahasuerus’ number one, she stood up for what she deemed proper at the time, which was not being stared at and lusted after by a bunch of drunken men, led by her own husband. Vashti would not allow herself to be disrespected by her husband. Obviously, it did not matter to her that her husband was the king.
Maybe it was because she descended from a line of kings that she maintained such a regal temperament. Regal personality or not, she lost her place in the palace and was replaced by Esther aka Hadassah.
