Set Boundaries

Hello everyone! Do you set boundaries? Boundary defined is something that indicates bounds or limits; a limiting or bounding line. Saints we must set boundaries in our lives. We should have boundaries set in all types of friendships and relationships. In order to have boundaries you must have standards. Standard defined is those morals, ethics, habits, etc., established by authority, custom, or an individual as acceptable. I have a standard when it comes to being on time. I believe it is inconsiderate to be late to an appointment without properly communicating with the waiting party that I will be late. Not only that I will be late but just how late I will be. That gives the waiting party the choice to choose to wait, cancel or reschedule the appointment. My standard is that I will wait no longer than 15 minutes. I know people whose standard is waiting 5 minutes, that’s it!

I have had friendships where I allowed this standard to be abused over and over again! Not only punctuality but many of my standards I allowed to be compromised. That relationship is no more. “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 KJV

How can you be my friend when you show me no consideration? We obviously have different standards, boundaries and beliefs. Saints enforce your boundaries. There are those who will abuse you over and over again with no remorse. Don’t allow people to mistreat you or abuse you and your kindness. Treat others with respect and expect respect as well. We are not pushovers, we are soldiers in the Army of the Lord!

Sometimes we have to offer up correction to one another. This is acceptable. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV Don’t battle with someone about your personal standards and boundaries. Saints we have standards and boundaries set before us by God that we must follow in obedience. How can we then not have standards and boundaries in our own lives?

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” Titus 3:8 KJV
