The Cult: Backsliding Spirit. To maintain control Cult leaders must stop members for thinking for themselves. No Thinking or Speaking Freely. Thinking for yourself can cause you to question many things. Which is absolutely normal. “Beloved, believe not every spirit. But try the spirits, whether they are of God. Many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1
The behavior I quickly learned was to keep quiet. The subtle teaching that if you start questioning things be careful. You might just be on your way out the door. To turn your back on God. You are on track to Backsliding. Beware of the Backsliding Spirit!
You didn’t know who you could freely discuss your questions or concerns with. There was always someone ready to tell the leader on you. The reports were not always accurate. Imagine grown men and women afraid to speak their minds. To be afraid of man that they’re physically and spiritually muted. Think about that! The Cult: Backsliding Spirit.
Cults Are Not Defined by Their Beliefs
As a nation, we need to talk openly and clearly about the reality of coercive thought reform. We must understand how easily our minds can be molested. Isolated minds. Isolated from real conversation and debate. The only people who profit from such conditions are powerful elites in their never-ending quest to control the lives of others. Cults Are Defined by Their Methods
Notes from Singer’s book, “Cults in Our Midst.“ Singer’s list of the six conditions practiced by cults:
- Keep the person unaware of what is going on. Unaware because they are changing. A step at a time.
- Control the person’s social, physical environment and control the person’s time.
- Systematically create a sense of powerlessness, fear, and dependency in the person.
- Suppress old behavior and attitudes by manipulating a system of rewards, punishments, and experiences.
- Instill new behavior and attitudes by manipulating a system of rewards, punishments, and experiences that induce group-approved behaviors.
- Put forth a closed system of logic. An authoritarian structure. That permits no feedback. Which refuses to be modified. Except by leadership approval. Source
Saints this brief message is to challenge you. Feel free to think and speak freely. Study the Holy Scriptures. Study the information about Cults. Just because someone declares you are not in a Cult, or makes a joke out of it does not make it true! Examine it for yourselves. It took me a little while to accept it. I cried and then I got over it and accepted the truth. Now I share because he whom the Son has made free is free indeed. Be Free!
