Women of the Bible Well Known and Little Known Article Series
Scripture: The Entire Book of Esther

“and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14c

“and if I perish, I perish.” Esther 4:16d

Esther Pronounced EHS-ter. Esther’s original name [Hadassah] is pronounced Huh-DAS-uh. Esther is Persian and means “Aster” or star. Hadassah is Hebrew and means myrtle. Esthers Occupation was Queen.

Esther was the young, orphaned cousin of Mordeci whom he raised her like his own child. It seems Esther was treated royally before she was appointed queen.

A few of Esther Character Traits Obedient, Amiable and Survivor.

Hadassah endured so much loss in her young life i.e., her parents, her home, her freedom, and her virginity, under the traditions and made-up pronouncements of a heathen society but she remained untarnished.

Mercy met Hadassah at every turn. The complexities of her life did not stain her character, all praise and thanks be to God!
