Sarah the Impossible made Possible

Women of the Bible Well Known and Little Known Article Series
Scriptures: Genesis 11:29-31, 12:5, 10-20, 16:1-6, 17:15, 17, 17:15-21, 18:9-15, 20:1-14 21:1-14 & Hebrews 11:11

Sarah is pronounced SEHR-uh. Sarah’s original name was Sarai, which is pronounced Suh-rye. Sari means My lady, my princess. Sarah means Lady; princess; princess of the multitude.

Although today we would not think of marrying a half-brother or even a stepbrother, Abraham and Sarah shared the same father according to Abraham, his name was Terah.

Sarah and her husband Abraham were quite wealthy.

Sarah Character Traits included Impatient, Spiteful, and a Survivor.

Sarah is considered a great woman of faith among many, but she also displayed a bodacious lack of faith by giving her handmaiden Hagar to her husband Abraham to produce seed in her stead, which is totally against the instructions given to the man of God.

That same man of God did not “reject” this idea of taking on a handmaiden from his wife, but he submissively went along with her.

After Sarah’s female bodily functions started to reverse itself, she began to believe. Her faith in God began to overflow.  That adage comes to mind, “the proof is in the pudding.” I can picture her faith coming to completion once Isaac was placed in her arms.
