Glorifying Speaking in Tongues

Hello everyone! Glorifying Speaking in Tongues. I was a member of a congregation for approximately 15 years that glorified speaking in tongues. You could not work in the outreach ministry or have a position within the assembly without speaking in tongues. Many false teachers have misled the people into thinking that their Salvation is based on speaking in tongues. They tell the people that speaking in tongues is the evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Some false leaders teaching that you aren’t saved unless you speak in tongues. These false leaders have the people tarry for the Holy Ghost. This is not proper scriptural teaching. It is doctrines of men.

Study the Book of Acts

I am not going to post a lot of scriptures today. My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, study the Book of Acts and be led of the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. If Salvation is based on speaking in tongues, the mute can’t be saved! “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. ²⁸ And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? ³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? ³¹ But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 KJV

There are many that place such an emphasis on speaking in tongues. Just as there are false brethren. There are most definitely false tongues that are not of God. People who often speak in tongues. This month they’re living for God the next they’re practicing sin. Where then is the power of God in your life? Up and down! You’re speaking in all these tongues yet you exhibit no power in your life! “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:” Acts 1:8 KJV

Glorifying Speaking in Tongues: Free from Sin

The followers of Jesus Christ believe in Jesus and the Gospel. We are obedient to his commandments. We are not perfect but we do not practice yielding ourselves to sin.

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. ¹⁶ Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ¹⁷ But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. ¹⁸ Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. ¹⁹ I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.” Romans 6:15-19 KJV

How can the Holy Spirit dwell in you? If you are a servant of sin? Speaking in tongues is a gift of God. Privily speaking in tongues is for self edification. Public displays are for the edification of the Body of Christ and should have an interpretation. Tongues are not to be spoken to prove ones Salvation, this is a false teaching. My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
