Wait on the Lord

The words “wait on the Lord and be of good courage” were dropped into my spirit early one morning. Those words are part of Psalms 27:14. It is part of one of the psalms of David. David was a man of God and wrote many psalms unto the Lord. He was king of Israel and a warrior. He had to wait on the Lord for guidance during the war and how to lead the people.

We need to wait on the Lord and practice patience. To wait is defined by Oxford Languages as to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. Patience is defined by Oxford Languages as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. We are in a hurry to do things instead of waiting on the Lord. Waiting is not easy and being patient can be even harder. We want everything to happen on our time and that is just not how it works. Wait on the Lord.

Wait on the Lord and Be of Good Courage

We are told in the Word of God to wait and to be of good courage. Attitude matters during the wait. We need to trust in God and lean on Him as He is our source of strength. There is suffering in waiting. We are not doing our will but the Will of God. Doing something now is our will but the Will of God may be for us to wait six months to do it. We don’t know why, but it turns out if we had done it on our time. The results would have been disastrous. Wait on the Lord!

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalms 27:14 KJV “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:3-5 KJV
